Well-
You may have heard of time travel. Specifically, in 1994, an educational video narrated by Jean-Claude Van Damme, Timecop, was released, explaining and exploring the various possibilities therein. There are a few paradoxes involved.
On December 16th, 2009 – in case you have not been paying attention, that was last year – I played a show in Eugene, OR with Douglas Detrick, a phenomenal trumpet player who at that time was living in Eugene. I was in the midst of my ROAD TRIP project, and drove down from Portland in the rain. The rain was not a surprise, but the total lack of adequate lighting on the highways was. In any case, it was exciting on a number of levels.
Now, on December 16th, 2010 – which is this year, in case you have not been paying attention – I will play once more with Douglas Detrick. He – wait for it, hold on to your chairs – does NOT live in Eugene anymore. He lives right here, in New York City (the “Big Apple”). Amazing, don’t you think?
