blue skies grey skies (2008) explores the static potential of video. In a 2007 interview, the artist Gabriel Orozco derides video for being “naïve,” ostensibly for claiming to be about movement when, in fact, to watch a video, one must remain stationary. What if, however, the moving image stops moving? What will the standing body do? Without a beginning or an end to wait for, is the standing body free to move?
